To be a trauma-informed person means that you have cultivated an awareness about trauma and the effects it has in people’s lives. Trauma is a far more common experience than we would like to believe, and includes, but is not limited to child sexual abuse, genocide, and domestic violence. Trauma-informed people recognize that trauma has a profound, lasting impact, and can leave victims struggling to cope.
